Dobrogea - Candidat Regiune Gastronomică Europeană 2029

The short film „Flavors of Dobrogea: A Journey Through Ethnic Cuisine”, produced by the National Institute of Heritage (INP) in collaboration with the Destination Management Organization of Constanța County (OMD Constanța), won the Category Award – Culinary Journeys at the FOOD FILM MENU 2025 Category Winners Awards international gala. The distinction was granted by IGCAT – International Institute of Gastronomy, Culture, Arts and Tourism, in Barcelona, on September 27, 2025, coinciding with World Tourism Day, during the prestigious World Gastronomy Summit, held at Palau Reial de Pedralbes.

The jury’s appreciation confirmed the quality and relevance of the project:

“The film is a professionally crafted piece that highlights the multicultural journey of the destination. The multicultural dimension is reflected in the richness and diversity of the local cuisine.”Amira Iqbal Al Lawati, General Director of Tourism Development, Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (Oman), , member of the jury.

This achievement is part of the ongoing initiatives supporting Dobrogea’s candidacy for the title of European Region of Gastronomy 2029, through the Explore Dobrogea composed of UNPR South-East Region delegates,, Năvodari City Hall, “Regina Maria” National College of Arts Constanța and Kirvad Tour SRL , which officially submitted the protocol to IGCAT. IGCAT.

The award-winning short film is part of the program “Multiculturalism and Traditional Gastronomy in Dobrogea”, initiated by the National Institute of Heritage (INP) and co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration (AFCN).

Its goal is to promote Dobrogea’s multiethnic gastronomic diversity, engage local communities -in documenting intangible heritage, and preserve and share the region’s cultural identity through the publication of the bilingual cookbook “The Taste of Dobrogea!”

“We congratulate the NP and OMD Constanța teams, who accepted our invitation to participate in this international competition and succeeded in bringing Dobrogea’s culinary heritage to the world stage,” said Daniel Moraru, President of UNPR-RSE.

Following the awards ceremony, public voting- was opened to determine the People’s Choice Award. The top three winners, selected by the jury, as well as the public vote winner, will be announced during the Gala taking place on October 27, 2025, in Gozo, the European Region of Gastronomy 2026.
