On Friday, June 13, 2025, four of the most important employers’ confederations in Romania — CONAF, CONPIROM, UGIR and UNPR — came together at the initiative of the National Union of Romanian Employers (UNPR).

The main topic addressed was the need to strengthen and coordinate efforts for a unified and powerful representation of private companies in Romania, within an economic and social context marked by persistent imbalances and challenges. Participants emphasized the importance of close collaboration and a shared vision in defending the interests of the Romanian business environment and expressed their concern regarding the way Romanian authorities select employer partners for consultations and dialogue.

All participants agreed that, at present, the representation of Romania’s business environment cannot be limited to just two employers’ confederations. During the meeting, the possibility of forming an Alliance of National Employers’ Confederations was discussed and proposed.
With a strong history, extensive experience, and active involvement, the confederations present reaffirm their role as reliable partners for national and international authorities in shaping a profitable and resilient economic environment.

Another key point on the discussion agenda was the identification and prioritization of strategic topics for the business environment, with the goal of developing a common and coherent approach to support Romanian, European, and foreign entrepreneurship and capital operating in Romania.
