400;\">, pe <\/span><b>on September 27, 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, during the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldregionofgastronomy.org\/about-the-summit\/\"><b>World Gastronomy Summit<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dobrogea was represented alongside global leaders, experts, and innovators \u2014 from UNESCO, Slow Food, Crop Trust, and the Future Food Institute, to international gastronomic networks and representatives of the Regions of Gastronomy worldwide.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The summit brought together over 160 participants from Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Pacific, Asia, and the Americas, to envision the future of food by 2050 and to shape sustainable policies and solutions.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\udcdc The central moment of the event was the adoption of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldregionofgastronomy.org\/wgs-declaration\/\"><b>World Gastronomy Summit Declaration<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a document calling for the official recognition of food as an essential part of culture, identity, and heritage within global agendas, <\/span><b>which was later presented at MONDIACULT 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u270d\ufe0f UNPR-RSE signed the declaration alongside href=\"https:\/\/www.foodfilmmenu.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Food Film Menu 2025 Gala<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, where the short film <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=fWgdbyFmfgQ\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flavours of Dobrogea: A Journey Through Ethnic Cuisine<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> received the \u201cCulinary Expeditions\u201d award \u2014 once again bringing Dobrogea into the international spotlight.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83c\udf1f <\/span><b>The first World Gastronomy Summit marks the beginning of a global movement that seeks to have food recognized not merely as nourishment, but as an essential expression of culture, heritage, and identity \u2014 one capable of shaping resilient societies for future generations.<\/b><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\ud83d\udcd6 Below is the full text of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldregionofgastronomy.org\/wgs-declaration\/\"><b>adopted at the World Gastronomy Summit<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (translated into English):<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h3><b>The World Gastronomy Summit Declaration on Food at the Heart of Cultural Policies and Community Well-being<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We, the undersigned, gathered in Barcelona at the first World Gastronomy Summit, in the presence of cultural leaders, policymakers, chefs, producers, researchers, and representatives of civil society, hereby declare our shared commitment to recognize, preserve, and celebrate food as a fundamental pillar of cultural heritage and identity.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We affirm that food is much more than nourishment. It is a living expression of culture \u2014 rooted in memory, territory, tradition, creativity, and community. Culinary practices connect generations, tell the stories of our peoples, reflect our natural environments, and shape our shared sense of belonging.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the eve of <\/span><b>MONDIACULT 2025<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we call upon governments, international organizations, regional bodies, and civil society to join us in:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognizing food as cultural heritage and fully integrating it into cultural, agricultural, tourism, and educational policies;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supporting local and regional initiatives that promote sustainable food systems, rooted in evolving cultural traditions, celebrating cuisine and its ingredients;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Empowering youth and communities to preserve and innovate their gastronomic heritage with pride, by investing in producers and protecting the ways of life of regions;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encouraging research and storytelling that document and celebrate food traditions from around the world;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promoting inclusive dialogue that unites cultures and generations through the shared language of food.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This Declaration is inspired by <\/span><b>UNESCO\u2019s leadership<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in recognizing culinary traditions as part of the world\u2019s intangible cultural heritage. Fifteen years after UNESCO\u2019s recognition of the Mediterranean diet as intangible cultural heritage, we reaffirm the essential role of gastronomy in protecting cultural diversity and fostering intercultural dialogue.
